Stewardship in fall

It has been a long weekend of trying to be a good steward for very challenging land. One acre of trimming branches and pulling weeds and sweeping the driveway. I am not sure if sweeping the driveway counts but in the fifth hour I started thinking about how none of my neighbors care for the front of their property here as is customary for working ranches. We have a walnut tree that overlooks the road and drops its shells on the for cars to run over. I thought about how it might be an example to clean up after that tree and just kept going until I had trimmed all of the roadside shrubs and raked all the weeds up and swept the gravel that had built up in the runoff in front of my house. I wonder if we should start a stewardship page for everyone to encourage each other to go a little further.

The Fall-time Arachnid

My wife is terrified of them but I see them as a good sign. The Tarantulas come out the same time every year looking to mate. You rarely see them any other time of the year and they are a clear sign around here of approaching winter weather. Some years, they all come out of the ground at once and you can see thousands crossing the roads. A rare phenomenon that I have not had the opportunity to see. They can show a threatening display if you get to close but I dont think I have ever seen them bite a person.

Assumption Day

Happy day of the Assumption! As you may know, in Spain it’s very common to do ‘procesiones’ (parades/processions) for important days in the liturgy. I wanted to share with you some beautiful pictures I took of Our Lady in today’s procession in a small town in Alicante, as she came out to the streets to bless everyone with her presence, and to remind the people the importance of today. In the first picture she is seen between the moon and Jupiter ✨
